Virtual Private Network (VPN)

Virtual private network (VPN) is a network in which computers are connected using telecommunication infrastructure (internet) and create a secure private network. It gives user a secure connection to connect with their organizations network. Generally, a VPN has a topology more complex than point-to-point.

A VPN works by using the shared public network. So it is indispensable to maintaining privacy of data.

VPN maintains privacy through security procedures and tunneling protocols and encrypt and decrypt data at sending and receiving end respectively. It is sending data through a tunnel that cannot be entered by data that is not properly encrypted. An additional level of security involves encrypting not only the data, but also the originating and receiving network addresses.

Time has changed, now many business thinking of global market. Demand for Virtual private network is getting increase and it will increase more as the time goes by.

PostPosted: Thu Jul 24, 2008 7:32 pm    Post subject: Looking for ISP that supports VPN Reply with quote

I, unfortunately, am tied to dial-up service because of my location and the fact that I don't use my home PC frequently steers me away from the more costly options. With that said, I am looking for an ISP that can support VPN. I'm currently with AOL and, surprisingly, they do not support VPN. Any suggestions?
