[DSL] phone hangs up with new DSL modem |
|
|
I have Earthlink DSL service, a 3com wireless router, and Mac computers. The ISP-supplied modem died so I got an Actiontec DSL modem (not wireless). Set up everything fine, I think, with the modem as a bridge and the 3com doing the DHCP and all the subnets correct. Internet works fine, though it seems to go out or at least hang once in a while. The problem is that now in a 10-minute phone conversation we get disconnected 2-3 times! This never happened before. I've heard of phone calls disconnecting the internet but not the other way around. Any suggestions?
Thanks! |

I was expecting clicking and buzzing. How many phones do you have? Try and isolate each filter and see if it continues. I would connect the modem directly to the wall jack, disconnect all but one phone, and attempt to call, then try with the other filter. It will eliminate them as a possible cause and won't take very long at all.
It is possible that a short is the cause. |
