D-Link Di-624 Won't Work With E-mail |
|
|
Hello all. Great site, Here's a question for all you router experts out there.
I've just set up my first Wi-Fi network using a D-Link DI-624 11g router with Mac OS X Panther. I can surf the web just fine but my e-mail client won't connect to my ISP. My e-mail client settings specify "POP" and "SMTP" for outgoing and incoming, but nothing more. |

Do I have to do something to my router's settings to get my e-mail client working?
If I unplug the router and just connect using regular Ethernet, my e-mail client works great. Must be a router setting.
Anyone have any ideas? |

| You have to use the Fully Qualified Domain Name of your mail server to access email when you are behind a router. As you suspected, using just mail won't work. |

| Usually the POP3 and SMTP address comes with username and password. when u are addressing a main ISP standard mail address. |

| You are 100% correct that u need full POP3 and SMTP address of the specified mail server. |

With our domain it would be:
POP3: Mail.dutchclan.nl
Smtp: Mail.dutchclan.nl
Login: Username@dutchclan.nl
Pass: Whatever password, we give u. |
