Your IP address may change, but it depends on how the network is setup. So, it is better if you have your network administrator with you when you are installing your cable modem

I want to try it to do it through my cable modem. But, unfortunately it is not possible to fax through a cable modem because the reason I found that a fax requires an analog fax/modem to operate. So, the last option is to use some good software for making fax online.

I think it is advisable to copy and store all of the information on your hard disk in a different location before the cable modem is installed. It might happen that you lose your data on your hard disk during the cable modem installation process

Yes, if NIC is not used for other purpose. If it is already being used, then you will have to get a new NIC to install the cable modem

I don’t think that cable wiring is the problem for you. I suggest that wireless network that you want to go for that is much costly for your home use. If there are more work load on those PCs then it is recommended that to use it.

My suggestion is to go for Cable connection for your 3 PCs home LAN.

My 2nd PC on second floor & the cable wiring is the problem. I see that wireless is not recommend by user. Now I only concern with my Internet connection. I also need how to restrict a user using this.
Thanks for your help.

I think that the cable wiring may cause some problems for me. Because all PCs of my network are at three different place. So I want to go for wireless solution for my network.

To sharing the internet connection, we can use software connection sharing such as, Windows ICS or any 3rd Party software. Personally, I not recommends it. A computer of Network needs two NICs and must always be on and also it not interacts with your gateway or proxy server.

The Linksys BEFSR41 & BEFSX41 are the best less costly, easily configurable solution for network admin. You can also add a basic hardware firewall to hide your network. I recommend the Linksys router for best home use. I don’t know about how to share Internet connections form same ISP.

Yes, buy a Linksys router, the best solution for home purpose. Please not go for wireless solution. It is costly but high-speed solution for that.
