Right click on my computer, and select properties. Select the advanced tab, under performance click settings, another window will popup, click on the advanced tab again and at the bottom it will say windows virtual memory click on change, and change it! Good luck!

Hi - I have followed the instructions in previous posts - but my concern: I increased my maximum - but it was already larger than the recommended amt.

Minimum 2mb
recommended 1533
current 2000

I had to increase to 3000 (was at 1958 or something like that)

What will this do to my computer if I set it that high?

Follow Roberts advice exactly, when you have the virtual memory window open you will see at the bottom where it says 'Total paging file size for all drives' that it will give a 'Recommended' size. Proceed and set your 'Maximum size (MB)' to the recommended value. The 'Initial size (MB)' value is not required to be changed. Then click 'Set' and the error message should not reappear

i am new to this site. my husband builds computers and I help program them so I am not your typical lady
I am getting the virtual memory problem and need some help.
My minimum size is 750
my maximum size is 1500

what could be the problem when there are NO programs running.

any help would be appreciated.

Currently, my initial size is 678 MB, and maximum size is 1344 MB. I'm sure my problem is due to the need to have a 54 MB text file open and editable.

I will try doubling my maximum size, but does it matter whether or not I alter the initial size?

BTW, if anyone should call ME a lady for asking this question, I will do something very unladylike.

Any advice on what to change the memory minimun to?? My computers memory minimun was set at 376 MB, is this too low?? My computer also seems to be going alot slower than usual, is this connected with the virtual memory.

This is not 100% true. I don't have too many programs running at once, I also have enough memory in my computer, but I still get the error message.

When I am using IE 6, I click on a certain link on a site, or open IE 6 and go to a certain site, the error message appears. It is even hard to start the task manager by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del.

I use Spybot and anti-virus software to scan for spyware and virus infection but didn't find any problem.

Please help!

i have the same problem but the differnce is the my
min 765 and max 3000
but i dont know if should give min of a 1000
isn't that to much?????

click start, then click on run, then type dxdiag, if a little screen comes up 1st click yes. This page shows you ur system specs, make sure that your system can run what ever program ur trying to run

In WinXP, right click My Computer, and select Properties. Go to the Advanced tab, and under Performance, click Settings. At there, click the Advanced tab. There, you will find one option at the bottom to change your virtual memory. Select Change and increase it.

Just select 'custom' setting
then put 'minimum' at 250
then put 'maximum' at 500
click 'set' & 'OK' your way out
