How to disable dumprep.exe:

Right click on “My Computer,” choose “Properties” from that menu.

Click on “Advanced tab,”

Click the “Error Reporting” button.

Check the “Disable error reporting” box.
You may choose to uncheck the the box below it, “But notify me when an error occurs,” if desired.

BADA-BOOM BADA-BING, it's such a wonderful thing, the annoying dumprep.exe tool is now disabled!

                                      Hi Voomy,

hope you've sorted it by now. if not deleting the 'prefetch' file often helps. Along with going throught he windows registry of all .exe files and looking for any files with a date on the day when you believe the problem started. dumprep used to start off loads of callback proxy on mine to hog alll the cpu, and getting rid of the prefetch file worked.

Hello, I have a small problem with dumpreg.exe on my computer.

I have recently installed my Starcraft game on my new computer and there seems to be a problem. After installing the game i tried to start it, and after 5 seconds of blackscreen, my ZoneAlarm alerted me that Starcraft is trying to gain access of dumpreg.exe and then i pressed allow and the computer froze.

The only thing i can do at that time is close starcraft with task manager and also close dumprep because it's using 99% of my CPU.

I have searched the net for solutions, also been on the microsoft page and tried to take it away from "startup on msconfig" and delete it from the windows registry but the thing is that it does not appear in neighter of them so i cant fix anything that is not there.

That is why i write here, thanks.

Hi Guise,

I got dumprep.exe error when I open video. Dosen't matter if it's windows media player, UltraPlayer Digital Media Player or winmap the following occurs when I try to open video.

Extreme Slowdown. This seems to be caused by several instances of dumprep.exe hogging resources.

I do not even use video much except for a few of my MIDI music tutorials, so I'm unsure how or why this happened.

Thanks for your help in advance, have been desperately trying to fix this problem.

i read some material on dumprep.exe and think my proble is somewhat related..
this is what happens
i run webshot to have changing desktop background and the theme is set as original windows xp theme just the wallpaper changes...

after rebooting the system the theme changes such that the taskbar appears white instead of the winxp blue...

this is not the only thing that happens the system forgets all the past settings all the saved passwords

i found two entries of dumprep 0-k and dumprep 0-u in startup through msconfig i've disabled them but the same thing keeps happening every few reboots later... each time i have to restore all the settings manually but after 2-3 reboots the settings are lost again... plz help
i run windows xp with sp1

I now have the same problem. It seems to be when I try to use hotmail, it says a script is causing it to run slow. If I try to end it the pc freezes up and I have to restart it. I looked at the processes running snd it is using up 80%. I don't want to mess with the registry but can't put up with this freezing up all the time.

                                      Hello,

The dumprep.exe process is used by Windows to create a report of errors as they occur in your system, as a text file. Upon serious errors this program will write the details to a text file and request the information be sent to Microsoft. This process can be terminated if you do not wish to send error reports to Microsoft.

dumprep.exe is flagged as a system process and does not appear to be a security risk. However, removing Dump Report Utility may adversely impact your system.

The Spy Boot database currently registers dumprep.exe to Microsoft.

This is part of Microsoft Windows XP (and later versions), in-built fault logging software.

                                      Hello,

Dumprep.exe uses more than 80 % of my CPU memory. From last couple of days my system work very slow and when i checked my Task Bar i found dumprep.exe running and using more than 80% of CPU usage. Thats really strange for me. Why this happen to my systerm? I want to fix this problem. I even cant end this process by click on End Task.
