I use yahoo email service and have not received any problems because of their spam blocker and anti-virus software. I set it to where any spam mail that has a potential for having viruses will be immediately deleted. If you do not know the person sending you the email then do not open it up either. Along with these precautions I would also have software dedicated to eliminating viruses such as Norton, McAfee, etc.
I got the solution to avoid virus entering from your mail. This is the solution : To guard your mail server and network against mail viruses is achieved by installing a email content checking and anti-virus solution.
Dear users,
Stop watching for .pif or .tif files.
Nowadays there are several viruses that are on internet mainly with .pif or .tif extensions.
It may be from any email address either it would be a popular email or not.

So, if you see such files in messages, remove them immediately.

Recently someone who knows me got a virus. They sent it to me and my wife, they sent about twice a day, probably every time they turn on their computer. It must have picked up my address from the list of recipients in a chain letter or something. This is a good reason to use blind-carbon-copy when you send something to a lot of other people.

Anyways I notified their ISP, but they don't seem to have relayed my message yet. It was easy to pull the IP address from the email, but its useless to trace it back without the help of the sender's ISP. I might look into trying to send them notification via windows-messenger-spam that if they haven't cleaned up their act in a week or so.

So I advice that Viruses aren't like Spam, where mail is sent to a harvested (or sometimes randomly generated) list. Most, if not all, viruses generate an address list by scanning for addresses in files on the infected computer. You get viruses sent to you because someone who is infected has got you in their address book, and its not not necessarily because your address was made public.
