I run BOINC on new and old hardware and have found that my old K6s are generally half as fast as Intels of the same clock speed.<br /> The <span style="font-weight: bold">K6</span> is in fact too slow for most projects, but not SIMAP. <br /> The <span style="font-weight: bold">K6</span> is roughly equal to Intels of the same clock speed (about 3 hours per WU for a 450-500MHz CPU). My K6s will now run SIMAP exclusively. It has given new life. <br /> <br /> Whatever the K6's handicap is with other tasks, it doesn't seem to apply to SIMAP.
