It sounds like your hard drive has experienced a mechanical fault. I suggest you to stop using the drive further, as the data recovery chances depend on the usage of disk space used after data deletion. Contact Professional Data Recovery Services who can help to recover your data.

                                      Hi

You could try setting it to a master and unplug your burners and use that ide slot for h/d

If that fails you could try a PCI-Raid card to plug the harddrive into but they cost about £20 ish and it may not work

Good Luck!!!

                                      Dear all,

My external hard drive failed the other day due to a power failure (it will no longer power up when I press the "On" button).
I have now dismantled the external hard drive so as to be left with the hard drive itself.

I tried installing this as a slave drive however as soon as I add it to the end of one of the IDE cables BIOS will no longer detect the other drive that is connected to that cable.

Any ideas as to what I can try as all my data was stored on this external hard drive.

Many many thanks as always.
