First Thanks in advance,
The Ethernet adapter that you want to buy it costs around $15-$30 in the market.
Just do one thing change your USB modem. I think this is main problem, I think check out with your Ethernet card.

I am having trouble while setting up my Cable modem to run on USB port. I see that it is not working so I want to set up for Ethernet Cable. My PC has Ethernet but it has a point that is used for phone only. What I do for that? Do I buy a new Ethernet adapter?
One thing I have in mind that does you uses your cordless phone while connecting. Do you have your cordless phone near to your modem? Your cordless phone that also generates bad noise, so Please remove your phone from your computer as well as from your room only.
